Welcome to the FINAL edition of Carnival of eBay Sellers. We have found that this carnival is only attracting a very few real eBay Sellers and dozens of “others” who are simply using this carnival to bring attention to their “snake oil”. So the effort we have been putting into editing this Carnival can perhaps be used more productively elsewhere. We have just added several wonderful, mint, new in the box, Lionel train sets for your consideration.

The first is an Atomic Energy Commission GP-9 Glow-in-the-Dark diesel engine. This item is so new it has never come out of the original Lionel packaging. We did not even take it out for photographing. Manufactured in 2001, this unit includes:

* Command controlled
* Unique RailSounds with CrewTalk and TowerCom
* Pullmor motor
* Die-cast trucks

The second is a Limited Edition Southern Pacific Fairbanks Morse (FM) Trainmaster Diesel Locomotive in the SP “Black Widow” paint scheme from 1979. It’s Brand New in the box!

The Fairbanks Morse Southern Pacific Diesel was displayed by Lionel in prototype at the 1954 Toy Fair. It was never before manufactured by Lionel until this Limited Edition Offering - what a great addition to your train collection. Features include:

* Two powerful Pullmor motors
* Magne Traction
* Die-cast six-wheel trucks
* Operation headlight on both ends
* Illuminated number plates

The third is “THE MIGHTY” Texas Zepher F-3 Powered and non-powered AA set from 1980. These engines have the following features: 2 PULLMOR Motors, 8 wheel drive, metal chassis and diecast trucks, transformer controlled forward-neutral-reverse, complete and accurate detailing, bright metallic plated body with authentic black and red Burlington markings. A terrific train!

We also, as a separate listing, have the Burlington Non-Powered F3B unit available. It too is Mint, new in the box with complete and accurate detailing, bright metallic plated body with authentic Burlington markings.

The fourth item is Lionel’s New Haven F-3 Diesel AA Set. Many excellent features make this beautiful diesel a powerful performer to add to your growing railroad. F-3 engines were first built in 1940 beginning the Lionel era in earnest. The original version of this New Haven was offered in 1958-59.

Powered Unit Features:

* Two powerful Pullmor motors engineered for long life and ease of maintenance
* Eight wheel drive
* Illuminated headlight and number plates
* Die-cast chassis

And finally, once again as a separate listing, have the New Haven Non-Powered F3B unit available. It too is Mint, new in the box with complete and accurate detailing, bright metallic plated body with authentic New Haven markings.

This is an absolutely outstanding collection of Lionel Engines. If you run a Lionel layout, you really do need to take a look at these auctions.. and bid!

This blog article has nothing to do with eBay, nothing to do with auctions and nothing to do with our core business, but I thought it was worth sharing with you.

This morning I watched, via the internet, a speech by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a neuroanatomist at Harvard. The speech was given at a TED conference. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.

The blog that brought me to the speech was written by Bruno Giussani at Lunch Over IP and he described the speech this way:

The video of Jill Bolte Taylor’s amazing speech at the TED 2008 conference two weeks ago — a neuroanatomist experiencing and observing her own stroke and using the story to explain the functioning of the brain — is now available online. It’s doubtlessly one of the best speeches you will hear this year, complete with the most audaciously cool prop: a real human brain.

Skeptical as I am, I started to watch the video, assuming that I would listen to a few minutes or two and then move on. But the speech is captivating and informative, and very well presented. I suggest that you let it run, listen to it all… and then think about what the Doctor has to say.

Tonight we added three great Dinky Supertoys to our eBay Auctions!

They are a

• DINKY 973 Goods Yard Crane Excellent and Operational
• DINKY 667 Missile Servicing Platform Vehicle Mint w Box
• DINKY 998 Bristol Britannia Airliner Near Mint w/Box

The Goods Yard Crane does not come in a box but is in Excellent condition. The unit is fully operational and has very minor wear shown. Listed at $9.95 this item is a great find for the Dinky collector.

The Missile Servicing Vehicle is in its original box and in Mint condition. While the box has a few blemishes, the unit itself is in wonderful condition and will make a terrific addition to your collection.

And the Canadian Pacific Bristol Britannia Airliner

One of our clients recently gave us a series of lovely Precious Moments porcelain figurines that he had purchased over the years for his daughter Michelle.

The set consists of each of the train figurines from Baby to Age 10. There are also a few other Precious Moments items that are equally as wonderful. While the items are not new, they were all preserved well in the original boxes and styrofoam inserts.

According to Wikipedia:

Precious Moments, Inc. is the name of the company that maintains and licenses copyrighted material pertaining to the designs by Sam Butcher. Precious Moments, Inc. a.k.a. PMI was incorporated in 1989. 80% of the royalties collected by the company was from its licensee Enesco Corp. for the porcelain figurine line.

Here’s just one of the wonderful figurines we have on eBay today.

It’s description reads: This addition to the Birthday Train figurine series depicts a pig riding on top of a train car. Pig has a decal reflecting age three. Stands 3.5 inches tall.

There seems to be a wide following of the Precious Moments products and numerous collectors clubs appear on the Internet. There is also a Precious Moment Chapel that was originally funded by the designer, Sam Butcher. The chapel is located in Carthage, Missouri.

If you are a Precious Moments aficionado, you really must have a look at these items.. and place your best bid.

Today we posted to eBay a really special Lionel train!

This auction is for a J Class Locomotive and Tender from Norfolk and Western. It’s the Post War Celebration model of the highly sought after #746 with the long-stripe tender. This item is new in the original box and therefore in excellent condition. It comes from an avid train collector and is a breakup from the Space-Freight set.

The 746 has the same running mechanism and features as does the 736 Bershire however, it is a lot more desirable. The 746 features improved smoke (due to a liquid system) magne-traction, remote whistle, reliable and strong AC motor, operating headlight, lighted number boards, and improved operating performance characteristics.

We’ve listed this item at a very low $29.95 but we are expecting it go up in price significantly before it ends.

If you are a Lionel Train aficionado, you really must have a look at this item.. and place your best bid.

We recently acquired from one of our clients a wonderful old Dinky item described in the title.

Thanks to your clients efforts, this item is well preserved and comes in the original Dinky packaging. The plane is in excellent condition and the decals are complete and original.

The plane has a cast upper and lower fuselage and wings, yellow plastic propellers and removable engine hoods. There are three yellow folding landing gears, and the registration number N555C is on fuselage. The size of the aircraft per the Dr. Edward Force’s Dinky guide is 115 by 148 mm and was manufactured between 1968 and 1976.

While I myself am not a Dinky collector, I find their items wonderful to handle and deal with. The amount of detail put into each item is amazing and precision of Dinky manufacturing is very commendable.

Here is what Wikipedia has to say about Dinky and its parent company, Meccano:

Dinky Toys are die-cast miniature model cars and trucks. They first appeared in early 1934 when Meccano Ltd of Liverpool, England introduced a new line of “modelled miniatures” under the trade mark “Meccano Dinky Toys”. The first announcement for the new line was made in the April 1934 issue of Meccano Magazine.
